Cooling Industry Awards announces student award and 2010 shortlist

Although entries for the 7th annual RAC Cooling Industry Awards are now closed, a new award category for the ‘Student of the Year’ in the UK is open until 20 August 2010. Moreover, event organiser RAC has announced the 2010 awards shortlist, among which projects and technologies using R717.
The new for 2010 ‘Student of the Year’ award will recognise the achievements of the best up and coming engineers in the United Kingdom and their contribution to the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.

Who can be nominated for the student of the year award?

Refrigeration and air conditioning engineers who are currently working towards a nationally recognised RAC qualification in the UK maybe nominated for the award, with the nominations submitted by either the employer or the training provider of the nominee.

Ammonia projects and technology shortlisted for receiving 2010 awards

In the beginning of August 2010, the event organisers announced the shortlisted companies and projects for the various categories.

Among the candidate projects for receiving the ‘Environmental Collaboration of the Year’, ‘International Achievement of the Year’ and/or the ‘Low Carbon Achievement of the Year’ award is the ‘World's Largest Natural District Heat Pump’ using ammonia refrigerant implemented by Star Refrigeration, Cool Partners, Vilter and Norsk Kulde.

Star Refrigeration is also shortlisted for receiving the ‘RAC Contractor of the Year’ award, as well as the ‘Refrigeration Innovation of the Year’ award for its ‘Neatpump’ technology, a packaged ammonia industrial heat pump. 

Next steps

Winning companies and projects will presented with the awards in a ceremony that will take place on 29 September 2010 in London, UK.
