The organisers of two major conferences of interest to the ammonia industry are calling for paper abstracts: the 2011 IIAR Industrial Refrigeration Conference & Heavy Equipment Show until 21 May 2010 and the 10th International IEA Heat Pump Conference until 30 June 2010.
2011 IIAR Industrial Refrigeration Conference & Heavy Equipment Show

The International Institute for Ammonia Refrigeration is calling for abstracts of papers that will be presented at the 2011 IIAR Industrial Refrigeration Conference & Heavy Equipment Show in Orlando, US on 27-30 March, 2011. Until 21 May 2010, abstracts are being sought for papers defining ideas and techniques that have successfully been used to advance the state of the art in refrigeration design, installation, operation and maintenance.

"In addition to being a beautiful "early spring" destination, the Orlando conference will be a "heavy equipment" show. This will certainly generate strong attendance with a desire to learn more about their industry," said 2011 Conference Chair Joe Mandato.

Of particular interest will be technical papers that address the following:
  • Detail the conversion from R-22 to ammonia
  • New concepts in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems
  • Innovations in load reduction
  • Case studies for low charge system installation and conversions using ammonia
10th International IEA Heat Pump Conference

The 10th in a series of triennial conferences under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Heat Pump Program to be held in Tokyo between 16-19 May 2011 will be themed ‘Heat Pumps ‒The Solution for a Low Carbon World’.

The International Organizing Committee (IOC) of the conference is accepting abstracts for papers until 30 June 2010 that will be then screened by an appropriate Regional Coordinator.

The conference sessions will cover the following topics:
  • Environment-friendly Technology: Advances in equipment design and development
  • Systems and Components: Advanced electrically and thermally operated systems, and ground source systems
  • Applications: Demonstrated energy efficiency and environmental advantages
  • Research and Development: New developments and new refrigerants in heat pumping technologies
  • Policy, Standards, and Market Strategies: Government utility and professional society activities related to heat pumps
  • Markets: Market status, trends and future opportunities
  • International Activities: Discussion of actions in response to climate change initiatives
Moreover, exhibition space will be available for heat pump manufacturers, R&D exhibits and heat pump information.
