All about the natural refrigerant ammonia (NH3) in cooling & refrigeration: News, Products, Jobs, Events, Knowledge, Forum, B2B Networking.

From 12-14 April 2010, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre opens its doors for all stakeholders in natural refrigerants, inviting them to discuss the state of play and explore the latest research in the field. Those who register until the 28 February can still get a 300-400 dollar early bird reduction.

“Natural refrigerants – Real alternatives” is the motto of the event organised by the International Institute of Refrigeration and Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating. The conference will present latest research as well as applications using natural refrigerants in heat pump, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and offer ample opportunity to discuss the consequences of recent policy developments on the sector.

The main topics on the agenda are:

• Natural primary refrigerants 
• Secondary coolants and ice slurries 
• Sorption systems
• Non conventional refrigeration systems
• Heat transfer and fluid flow 
• Energy use and energy efficiency of natural working fluid systems

The scientific and technical discussions in the Conference will treat a broad range of natural refrigerants. Of particular interest in regards to ammonia are however the following papers:

The conference is named in honour of Norwegian Scientist and engineer Gustav Lorentzen who rediscovered how CO₂ could be used as a refrigerant in a simple and efficient way in heating and cooling applications.
